Young Spanish designers catwalk in Conde Duque

After the closure of Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week Madrid, new fashion talents and designers in Spain, students of the Centre of Fashion Design Madrid, students of the Polytechnic University, presented a unique parade, held at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque and directed by Ana Locking.

In Conde Duque, final year students showed their innovative proposals. Each of the students presented a collection of five models made ​​by themselves in combining fabrics and leathers, a total of over fifty new pieces that show the value of these young talented designers.

The catwalk was overseen by a six meter Tyrannosaurus Rex, created for the occasion by the students of Industrial Design and Product Development at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and made with recycled cardboard.

About the Superior School of Fashion Design in Madrid

The Superior School of Fashion Design in Madrid, part of the Polytechnic University, offers a University Degree in Fashion Design. This university degree is accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). Top designers such as Ana Locking and Daniel Rabaneda form part of the program, which offers a practical approach oriented to the progressive integration of its students in the professional world.

The course prioritizes projects in fashion design and workshops that emphasize new techniques, and the students have their own catwalks at the end of each of the four courses, including at graduation. The degree also includes the Masterclass by some members of ACME, the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain, with whom the CSDMM has maintained a close relationship since its inception and whose members form part of its advisory board.

Dress Coke, the new Coca-Cola contest for young talent

Coca-Cola is committed to awarding spanish talent in a contest called Fashion Design Dress Coke aimed at young designers. The new image of the sales network Coca-Cola Iberian Partners will be chosen among the proposals received.

The contest Dress Coke was introduced at the SAMSUNG EGO event that has took place during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

Phases of the competition

As of September 23,  young designers who want to participate must present their designs of a complete set of men’s and a women’s clothing, for both winter and summer. Contestants can sign up and see the requirements and contest rules on the contest website: www.dresscoke.com.

The closing of the contest is 9 November, when a jury will evaluate the candidates and elect five finalists, which will be reported in late November.

These five finalists will be given an allocation of 2,200 euros for the preparation of their proposals, which must be completed and sent to the organization before 4 January.

The finalists will be rewarded with the opportunity to develop their own designs in an event specially organized for this purpose and to participate in the communication campaign as an event finalist.

The jury of Leonor Perez Pita, director of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, designer Miguel Palacio and representatives of Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Iberian Partners, will evaluate the five finalists’ proposals during the first half of January. Various criteria will be considered such as functionality, elegance and professionalism, as well a uniform that reflects the corporate concept of Coca-Cola Iberian Partners and that their employees feel comfortable with and proud to wear.

In the words of Marta Bofill, Communications Manager of Coca-Cola Iberian Partners, “the final decision will take into consideration the the responsible use of materials and sustainable fibers as well as traditional production methods”.

The winner will be announced during the month of February.

In addition, the finalist design will be the new uniform for over 1,000 Coca-Cola Iberian Partners sales people, the Coke Dress winner will receive a cash prize of  10,000 € and tuition for a course on design and fashion, worth 6,000 €.

Bathing suits designer Dolores Cortés presented her collection for next summer at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

Inspired by Japanese culture, Tokyo, the manga universe and the samurai, Dolores Cortés showed off her swimsuits, bikinis and trikinis in pastel colors, like origami figures or pieces of black and red armor. The result is a modern and refined collection that integrates Japanese aesthetics in western culture.

Roberto Torreta catwalk at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid

Spring / Summer 2015 Roberto Torretta Collection is full of fresh air and new silhouettes that blend with a strong sense of craft.

Proportions are essential in this collection, and movement takes a leading role thanks to asymmetric and triangular cuts. The semi ruffles, and volume in the short dresses, tops and skirts, are the true novelty of this season. This trend is deployed to other garments apart at the seams of jackets, short and long sleeves, combined with extra-large pants.

In the selection of cotton fabrics Roberto Torretta combines pink crepe with blue silk, transparent embroidery to diffuse the figure. Floral motifs are also used as well as large blurred squares in black, mid gray, black and white digital prints and natural motifs.

Maria Lafuente presents her new collection Kapok

The designer Maria Lafuente presents her Fall / Winter 14-15 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

The fashion show took place at the Tropical Garden at Madrid Atocha train station, with the title Kapok, a tree native to Mesoamerica.
