Christmas at Circo Price

The holidays are a good time to have a fun with the family. Today Friendly Madrid proposes a plan for the whole family, the circus! Kids love the circus and we love it too.

Every year the Price Circus Theater together with Smiles Productions present a unique Christmas show that runs through January 7.

This time the Circus has developed a theme around the story of a girl named Blanca who runs away from home to join the circus. Blanca becomes an expert in acrobatics and juggling. 

The circus is directed by Suso Silva, winner of the National Circus Award.

The Nativity scene from the Royal Post

This year the Royal Post has created a uniquely Spanish Nativity scene, with the contribution of more than 50 people between 5 and 70 years old from the Madrid Association of Nativity scenes with more than 90 people helping with the construction over four days. Measuring 150 square metres, weighing three tonnes, and with more than 500 figures made of clay and wood.

Nativity scene from the Messengers of Peace Foundation

A gift to Father Angel from the Philippine island of Cebu, this Nativity scene was given in recognition of the charity work done by the Messengers of Peace Foundation in the wake of typhoon Haiyan.

People can donate long-lasting food such as milk, preserves, olive oil, children’s food and cookies.

The foundation also accepts money donations through a vending machine that shows images of the food that will be donated for each monetary donation.

At Nuestra Señora de la Soledad Chapel, Calle Fuencarral 44 (corner of Augusto Figueroa) in Madrid, until Jan. 10. 24 hours/day.

Nativity scene at the Royal Palace

More than 200 Neopolitan figures make up this technically and stylistically impressive Nativity Scene.

At the Salón de Alabarderos in the Royal Palace of  Madrid.

This year, at the entrance of the city, there is an installation of an oriental campsite, which reproduces in small scale, the Ottoman tent kept in the Royal Armory.

From 10am to 6pm until Jan. 12.  Free entrance.

Nativity Scene at Casa de America

An exhibition of Latin American Nativity scenes from the colonial period, belonging to the artistic funds of the Association of Nativity Scenes of Madrid.

Until Jan. 6, Monday to Friday, 9am to 8:30pm, Weekends from 10am to 1pm, at Plaza de Cibeles, 4.

Free entrance.

NAVIBUS MADRID 2013- 2014

The Navibus is a great way to see the beautiful Christmas lights of the main streets of Madrid, until January 6, 2014.

The buses depart from Plaza Colon (Serrano Street, opposite the number 30, next to Discovery Gardens) and the ride terminates at the same location.

Go over calle Serrano, Independence Square (Alcalá Gate), Alcalá Street, Cibeles Square, Gran Vía, Jacometrezo Street, Santo Domingo Square, San Bernardo district, and fashionable Velázquez and Ortega y Gasset streets.

Duration:

About 50 minutes.
