The 49th edition of Casa Decor was recently held in the previous headquarters of the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM). Built in 1875, the impressive building at 12 Barquillo Street, has 4,400 square feet on four floors with recessed balconies.
Architecture, and more specifically, interior architecture has been the active ingredient, the motivation and the ultimate goal of Casa Decor during its 22 years of existence: transforming interiors to demonstrate solutions for housing and the use of cutting-edge materials.
Casa Decor is a window into the homes of the future, and a launching pad for leading professionals across the country to display their work.
Casa Decor has also helped to highlight the urban architecture of Madrid, not only transforming, but also showing the public unique and architectural wealth that remained hidden to outsiders.
More than eighty professionals (interior designers, architects, designers and artists) took advantage of the infinite possibilities of this unique building; their imagination captured in the 54 exhibition spaces with surprising and innovative designs that advance the field of interior decoration.
And this is a summary of what we saw during our visit:

The Galería Loewe is situated within the historic site at 8 Gran Vía, Loewe‘s oldest store, designed by the architect Francisco Ferrer Bartolomé and opened in 1939.
Its entire lower-ground floor has become a gallery-like space exploring the history, tradition and sensual appeal of Spain’s foremost luxury brand through art installations and interactive experiencies specially designed to delight the senses.
The Loewe scarves are inspired in the Spanish culture. The prints from the house´s most emblematic silk collections come to life projected onto a suspended piece of fabric.
With different areas each focusing on a specific aspect of Loewe‘s 166 years of artisanal expertise, Galeria Loewe showcases the house’s most iconic products and leathers.
The tools used today to work the leather date back to the Bronze Age. This exhibition shows a selection of these utensils, inherited from father to son, along with the artesian know-how necessary to use them.
The Amazona bag has more than 65 parts, most of which are handmade.
As a tribute to the talented José Pérez de Rozas, Loewe´s designer and art director from 1945 to 1978, there is a full reconstruction of one of his most memorable window displays.
This tree, symbol of Loewe‘s enduring leather expertise, offers a sensorial experience with an unlimited range of textures, colors and finishes. By caressing the leather branches, visitors will discover a chapter of Loewe’s history.
SABON, a premium beauty and personal care company, opened its 131th store worldwide, after the last opening in Hong Kong. The presentation was introduced by model Malena Costa. With this new property in the Spanish capital, SABON already has four stores in Spain.
The SABON firm was founded in 1997 by Avi Poatok and Sigal Kotler in the city of Tel-Aviv. In 2003, SABON opened a store on Sixth Avenue in New York, marking the beginning of a global expansion.
The name of the firm, SABON, is a Semitic translation of the word soap. This reflects the origins of soap, when it was sold fresh by the cut. Very quickly SABON diversified and developed various lines of personal care. SABON products take their essence from the heart of the Dead Sea and convey strength and vitality to the body.
Based on natural ingredients, essences extracted from aromatic oils and Dead Sea minerals, all products of the firm are developed for the physical well- being and they produce and serenity of spirit.
SABON is respectful of nature and the environment. The company only uses natural materials of the best quality for both products and packaging for accessories.
In the center of the SABON shops is an old stone fountain made of Jerusalem where all customers can experience the great products of the firm.
Now that summer comes nothing better to prepare the skin with an exfoliation with Dead Sea essential oils, natural ingredients. We tested Scrup Body: Developed based on Dead Sea Salt, the salt grains remove dead cells and renew the skin leaving it soft and silky. The Dead Sea Minerals penetrate the skin and get rid of the impurities from it. It is good for eczema and psoriasis.

On our visit to the showroom of Pretty Ballerinas we have chosen three models with diverse styles.
Now that the heat begins and feet tend to swell, more than ever we need comfortable shoes for day and night.
Wearing these ballerinas is like wearing slippers. And they’re beautiful!
For those who still do not know this brand, in February 2005 the third generation of the Mascaró family launched their online shop Prettyballerinas.com, as a tribute to the first generation of Mascaró, who in 1918 began designing ballerina shoes in a small artisan workshop in Menorca.
Pretty Ballerinas have conquered the international market and is now an international brand worn by celebrities like Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson, Kylie Minogue, and HRH Princess Letizia Ortiz.
In 2007, Pretty Ballerinas opened their first shop in Mayfair, London. In 2008 Pretty Ballerinas arrived in Madrid with two new stores in Barrio de Salamanca.
For the day try these simple and wearable ballerinas with any outfit. The beige tone combines with everything.
Marilyn woven leather beige and black
These more special and fashionable in fluor green. A little more sophisticated and contemporary with a touch that adds freshness to an outfit.
Ella mint patent and silver glitter mesh with pink and blue
This model come with elegant Swarovski elements that can be combined with jeans for a casual look for day and with a dress or black suit for night-time.
Rosario pearly queen
What do you think about the ballerinas we’ve chosen?
On the occasion of the upcoming FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014, Encuentros Bazar organized a special event, Wednesday, May 28th at the Embassy of Brazil in Madrid. This was second event we attended organized by Encuentros Bazar. The first was last month with designer Guillermina Baeza which we wrote about in an earlier post.
The twentieth edition of the World Cup, will take place between June 12 and July 13, and will be the second time this sporting event takes place in Brazil.
We had the opportunity to talk with Ambassador Paulo César de Oliveira Campos about sports, tourism, fashion, and gastronomy, and his love for Madrid.
The ambassador wanted to emphasize that visitors to Brazil for the World Cup should be aware that Brazil is much more than Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Less well known places such as Praia de Pipa, Chapada Diamantina, San Miguel, Jericocoara and Trancoso are well worth a visit.
The ambassador also highlighted the quality of life in Madrid, the fact Madrid is well connected, with great transport and infrastructure, parks and gardens, cultural and leisure offerings, excellent restaurants, making Madrid a very pleasant city in which to live.
The Brazilian Embassy is located in a classical town house in the elegant Almagro district of Madrid, and retains antique furniture.
My look for the event, a white blazer by Mango, a blue dress by Zara, bag by Bimba y Lola and Jimmy Choo sandals.
